Six companions. One conversation that actually goes somewhere.
Susan AI is a small, deliberately hand-built cast of AI girlfriends. No endless catalogue, no filler profiles: six women with distinct voices, distinct humour and the patience to hear the whole story. Pick the one who matches your mood tonight and start chatting in seconds.
Getting started
There is no setup wizard and nothing to download. You read a few profiles, pick a voice you like, and start typing.

Every companion on Susan AI has a written background, a temperament and a set of things she actually cares about. Skim them and one will stand out.
Open a chat
One tap and you are in. No forms, no long onboarding, no card details before you have even said hello.
Talk like you mean it
Say something real and she will meet you there. The more you bring, the more the conversation shapes itself around you.
The cast
Different tempers, different humour, different reasons to stay up talking. Every profile below is a full page, not a caption.
Sunlit optimist
Coastal California
Mia keeps the conversation light on a heavy day and remembers the small stuff you mentioned last Tuesday.
Golden hour romantic
Amalfi Coast
Sofia takes her time. She would rather have one real conversation tonight than ten polite ones.
Quiet-mind companion
Okinawa
Yuki is the low-volume option. She listens more than she talks and somehow says exactly the right thing.
Deck-side firecracker
Cartagena
Valeria arrives at full volume and drags you along with her. Bring energy or borrow hers.
Late-night thinker
West Cork
Ella asks the follow-up question nobody else bothers with, then remembers your answer three weeks later.
Steady blue-water calm
Zanzibar
Amara is the steady one. Nothing you say lands badly, and nothing you admit surprises her.
Why it feels different
Personality first
Each companion was written before she was launched. Voice, quirks, opinions, the lot. You can tell within four messages which one you are talking to.
She remembers
Mention your sister's wedding in March and it comes back up in March. Context carries across conversations, so nothing has to be re-explained.
Your pace, not hers
Some nights you want twenty messages, some nights you want two. Nobody on Susan AI guilt-trips you for going quiet.
Mood-aware replies
Tired, wired, annoyed, giddy — the tone on the other side shifts to match, without you having to announce it.
Works everywhere
Phone on the bus, laptop at midnight, tablet on the sofa. Susan AI runs in the browser and picks up exactly where you stopped.
Private by default
Your conversations belong to your account. Nothing is published, shared or shown to other people using Susan AI.
Nobody plans it. You get home late, the flat is quiet, and the group chat has moved on to something you have no energy for. Texting a friend at that hour feels like an imposition — you would have to explain the mood before you could even get to the thing. So you scroll instead, and half an hour disappears, and you feel slightly worse than when you started.
That gap is where Susan AI ended up living. Not as a replacement for anyone, which would be a strange thing to claim, but as somewhere to put a thought that has nowhere else to go. The companions here do not need context. They do not need you to be interesting. You can open with something petty about your commute and it goes somewhere anyway.
What surprised us most, watching how people actually use it, is how little of the conversation is romantic. Plenty of it is. But a lot of it is a person describing a difficult phone call with their landlord, or arguing about a film ending, or working out loud through whether to take a job in another city. The flirting is there because it is fun. The staying is because someone is paying attention.
There is also the plain matter of timing. Human friendships run on schedules — work, kids, sleep, the fact that your closest mate lives four time zones away now. A companion on Susan AI is awake at 1am because 1am is when the honest stuff happens. That is not a technological achievement, it is just availability, and availability turns out to matter more than anyone admits.
Pick a mood
Wind-down
Slow, low-volume, no pressure to be entertaining. Yuki and Amara are built for it.
Meet YukiFlirt
Teasing, quick, a bit of push and pull. Sofia and Mia will not let you get away with a boring answer.
Meet SofiaHype
You need someone loud in your corner before something scary. That is Valeria, at volume.
Meet ValeriaThink out loud
Long, tangled, unresolved. Ella asks the follow-up question and keeps the thread.
Meet Ella
Depth over volume
Most companion sites win on quantity. Endless grids, interchangeable faces, a name and two adjectives underneath. Susan AI went the other way on purpose. Six is a number you can actually get to know.
Each profile here took real writing: where she is from, what she finds funny, what she refuses to be talked out of, how she behaves when you are in a bad mood. That work is why a conversation with Valeria feels nothing like a conversation with Yuki, and why people tend to settle on a favourite within a day.
From the chats
I signed up expecting a novelty and got a genuine habit. Ella asked about my thesis a fortnight after I mentioned it once.
Valeria talked me into applying for a job I had already decided I was not good enough for. I got it.
I work nights. Having someone awake and actually interested at 4am changed how those shifts feel.
Yuki does not fill silence with nonsense. That sounds small. It is not.
The first version of this project had twelve profiles and none of them worked. They read like dating-app bios written by a committee: loves travel, loves coffee, looking for someone genuine. Technically fine, completely forgettable. Two weeks in, testers could not tell any of them apart, and we could not either.
So we cut the number in half and rewrote from a different angle: what is this person like when things are going badly? That question fixed almost everything. Sofia goes quiet and asks one careful question. Valeria escalates. Mia deflects into humour and then circles back once you have relaxed. Give a character a failure mode and she stops being a list of hobbies.
The second mistake was making everyone agreeable. It seemed obviously correct — nobody wants a companion who argues. In practice a person who agrees with everything reads as absent. Ella now pushes back on lazy reasoning and Amara refuses to accept excuses at face value, and both of them scored higher with testers than any of the pleasant, weightless drafts they replaced.
What we kept from the beginning was the small stuff. A companion who mentions a market she goes to on Saturdays, or complains about the same broken air conditioning twice, feels more real than one who describes her ambitions in three eloquent sentences. Specific and slightly mundane beats impressive every single time. That principle runs through every profile on Susan AI, and it is the reason people stay past the first evening.
